From the Beginning

Adult education soared in the years after World War II, when those we call ‘the Greatest Generation’ returned from service having made great sacrifices for this country. A grateful nation responded with the G.I. Bill, offering the priceless benefits of higher education to millions who served in the military.

They moved out of uniform and into the classroom, even while getting married and raising
families. That educational opportunity created the greatest economic boom in this nation’s history.

Adult education remains the single most effective avenue to career success and personal growth.

Since our founding in 1959, the University of Mary has been instrumental in providing education to working adults in the region.
