Addressing the challenges and opportunities that currently exist in our state has never been more important. North Dakota needs strong leaders who can effectively guide our state’s private, public, and non-profit sectors to ensure that we continue to grow and sustain a prosperous future.

We designed Leadership ND to support those who are ready to meet this need. Connected, informed, and forward-thinking, our participants gain advanced leadership skills, explore major issues facing leaders today, and participate in high-level networking opportunities.

The Leadership North Dakota Institute is presented by the Leadership North Dakota Board, the Gary Tharaldson School of Business, and the University of Mary Workforce Development.

Applications will open in Fall 2025 for the class of 2026.

When I observe the caliber of individuals who enroll in Leadership North Dakota, I see people who want to connect with like-minded colleagues to develop the skills and network required for purposeful work. Time: The program runs once per year, beginning with an online virtual orientation in December and monthly in-person sessions from January – June.

Location: Travel throughout North Dakota is required. Monthly in-person sessions are held at locations across the state to ensure robust and dynamic learning opportunities.

Tuition: $3,200 (Includes all meals, hotels, entertainment, and transportation once the participant has arrived at the specified location in each designated city)

Cancellation Policy: Because enrollment is limited, it is vital that those selected to participate in Leadership ND inform us as soon as possible if they cannot attend. A 25% fee of the cost of tuition ($800) will be charged for any cancellations up to the virtual orientation. There will be no refunds after orientation.

We ask that you provide your contact information, an up-to-date resume, and one professional letter of reference. Incomplete applications will not be considered for acceptance into the program.

Qualified candidates will be contacted to schedule a virtual interview following the Leadership ND Application Review Committee’s audit of all completed applications.

Successful applicants will be notified of their acceptance into the cohort and provided additional program information, such as reading materials.

The Leadership ND Fellowship Scholarship provides financial support to complete the program and is available to eligible participants. This scholarship can also be applied for those who wish to pursue our Doctorate of Business Administration.
