Master of Education or Doctor of Education, Catholic Educators Concentration

Informed by the Benedictine tradition and in harmony with the Magisterium, the Catholic educators concentration added to a Master of Education or Doctor of Education degree forms students with a solid Catholic pedagogy. 

Catholic educators in this program will be formed in a way consistent with the Church’s foundational teachings and prepared to fulfill their most important role as a teacher – forming leaders in the service of Truth.

Our Catholic educators concentration will help you integrate the intellectual, spiritual, and material aspects of life; further your knowledge and skills as an educator; and help form your students during crucial years of their lives. More specifically, you will learn:

  • How Catholic educators have adapted methodology and philosophy to educate the whole person in the face of a broad-based and diverse US student population
  • How Catholic principles can be applied today to address the moral and ethical issues faced by today’s Catholic educators

Integrated

Courses are offered sequentially and end with the capstone course. This capstone provides each Catholic educator with sound theoretical understanding and practical application to their specific Catholic school environment. Educators will be prepared to incorporate the Church’s teachings in all areas of their classroom, not only during religion classes.

Flexible

Classes cross over with the University of Mary’s Master of Arts in Apostolic Leadership (Catholic Studies) program, allowing students greater flexibility and opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration. All courses are available online, so students can complete the concentration from any location.
